Barack Obama visits the Independence Square.

I do not make my political view public, but is exciting to see a Presidential candidate on either side visit our area.  Obama spoke today at the Truman Memorial building here on the Independence Square.

His opponent John McCain was in Pennsylvania today.   I stopped in to snap a few images while the Presidential hopeful gave a speech.

We have our sign!

An exciting week is concluding by having our new sign installed.  It has taken 3 months and two design changes, but it looks fantastic.  A big thanks to Phil with Acme signs for all his help.  Also Dave Farley who has helped us rebrand and did all of our logo and design work.

Matthew & Tabitha

Another beautiful wedding at Our Lady of Sorrows.

I went to school with the ring bearer’s dad David.  It was nice running into you after all these years!

We seem to be at the downtown Marriott a lot lately.  They really do a great job.

Ribbon Cutting and Television appearance

We had our ribbon cutting with the City of Independence, and the Chamber of Commerce today at 4pm.  Everything was a big success!  Thanks to Caren’s Cakes and Final Touch Studios for all their help with the cake and flowers.  Also a big thanks to Jeff, Nita, and James for helping get our gallery ready for the opening.

We are scheduled to be on NBC Channel 41 tomorrow, Thursday at 11:20am.  I am a little nervous about going on live, but I’m sure everything will be great.

Vince & Cristina

Vince & Cristina were married on June 7th.  Shonna McMilian was our lead photographer for this event.

The Marriott Muehlbach was gorgeous.  Pax did the decorating, and it was truly amazing.

Open House this Friday evening!

This Friday evening we are having an open house to celebrate our new studio.  Here is the postcard we mailed out:

Stop by to have a drink, appetizer, or just to say “hi”!  We will have flowers on display by Blue Boquet, a cake by Iced Art, and Larry Beekman will be playing some great Beatles tunes on his classical guitar.

We encourage you to eat dinner on the Independence Square either before or after you stop by.  There are some terrific restaurants including Cafe’ Vernoa, Opheila’s,and the Rhineland Restaraunt just to name a few.

We will also have a good friend of mine,  Kansas City artist Alexendar Austin, displaying and selling some of his work outside our gallery.  Having Alex here is in conjuction with walking 3rd Friday’s on the Square.  In case you are not familiar with Alex’s work, he is the artist currently painting the two block long wall mural off of 1-70 at the new Power & Light district in Kansas City.

Fine Art launches at Ribbon cutting.

We are a little over a week and a half away from our ribbon cutting of our new gallery.  It will commence at 4pm on Wednesday June 25th, 2008.  We will have cocktails, appetizers, and will be serenaded by a cello and violinist.  If you would like to attend, please feel free to RSVP to:

mike@freelandphotography.com

We are launching our fine art at the ribbon cutting as well.  For a sneak peek, you can visit our fine art gallery:

www.freelandphotography.com/fineart

Along with offering fine art for sale on the website, we will have a line of signed and matted prints in our gallery, as well as postcards taken in Missouri and around the Historic Independence Square.  Here are a couple of previews.

Dr. & Mrs. Taylor!

What a day!  Todd & Christina had a beautiful wedding.  I always here the expression from newlyweds, “the day just flew by”, and this day seemed to fly by quicker than normal.

The ceremony was at Country Club Christian, with the reception at the Muehlbach.

All the family and wedding party were extremely nice.  Thank you!  The church did not allow us very much time for pictures and everyone was very cooperative.

The details were incredible at this wedding; the decorations, thousands of homeade cookies, and a gianormis cake!  Everyone had a great time, and it really showed in the images.

On a personal note: Country Club Christian church has a special memento to me.  I had a wedding at this church in April, 2002 and my wife went into labor with our daughter, Sophie.  (In case your curious, that wedding went great also, and I did make it to the hospital in time for the birth).
